Amazing Comic Con Aloha is the biggest platform for creators in the state of Hawaii. We believe that local creators should be promoted alongside the most recognizable names and faces of Pop Culture.
Earlier this month we brought the spotlight to creators from Hawaii with creators such as Sam Campos, Mog Park, Wynette Sabalburo, and Kamula Moe. The list of artists from Hawaii is huge though, and we wanted to take an opportunity to recognize even more of your favorites coming to Honolulu for Amazing Comic Con Aloha on February 21-22-23.
*DAVID NAKAYAMA is a concept artist living in Honolulu. He has gained a fan favorite following for his MARVEL COMICS Covers which include favorites such as Deadpool, The Hulk, Spider-Man, and other icons. David has worked in the gaming industry with Harry Potter and Avengers Academy, and others. His designs have been featured on Hasbro for their Marvel Legends Line. Exciting body of work, charismatic personality, great work ethis, there is little wonder why David quickly ascended to Fan Favorite status. Amazing Comic Con is thrilled to work with David Nakama once again!
*PETER NGUYEN grew up in Honolulu, and returns to Hawaii for Amazing Comic Con Aloha. Peter has been published by Marvel with characters such as the Black Widow, Inhumans and more. At DC Comics, Nguyen’s work includes Batman Arkham, Gotham City Sirens, Catwoman, and more. Peter Nguyen also has worked in Animation on Wolverine and the X-Men and for clients such as Hasbro, Boom, and others.
Creator of the Aumakua: Guardians of Hawai’i, lends a unique voice to independent comic scene. While the make-up of his team concept graphic adventures is similar to mainstream titles like Avengers or Justice League, the voice and scenery is local. There’s even a glossary in the back, with references to speech and history of Hawaii. Amazing Comic Con has been a mainstay stop for Chris, and we highly recommend checking out his family of titles, MANA COMICS.
Former Marvel and DC Comics illustrator Andy Lee creates beautiful modern zen ink brush paintings with contemporary themes– everything ranging from superheroes to toasters to ray guns. Originally from Hawaii, Andy worked for many years before returning home to Hawaii in 2009; he currently teaches cartooning locally, as well as conducting courses at the Honolulu Museum of Art. We’re excited to host Andy Lee at Amazing Comic Con Aloha once again in 2020
*JON J MURAKAMI is a local legend , a fixture on the Fan Scene in Honolulu and throughout the islands. He has regular comic strips featured in the STAR ADVERTISER and WASABI Magazine, as well as self published comic book GODON RIDER, and he has drawn children’s books, postcards, and more. Jon’s work even appears as part of the Pearl City Library as a mural! UDON COMICS recognized Jon Murakami, and included his entry in the STREET FIGHTER SUMMER SPORT Edition, alongside all the best CapCom artists in the world. We are pleased that Jon is back with his HCBA Brothers and sisters in the artist alley of Amazing Comic Con Aloha.
While there are literally dozens of great creators gathered at Amazing Comic Con Aloha, and the above names are some great examples of the diverse talent from the people of Hawaii.
