BIG TALENT AVAILABLE LOCALLY- check out these great creators from Hawaii at Amazing Comic Con Aloha

Amazing Comic Con Aloha believes in promoting the best local talent alongside the greatest names in Pop Culture Entertainment. When you are at this year’s big event at the Hawaii Convention Center, check out these fan favorites who are making an impact-

*Peter Nguyen

Grew up in Honolulu, and returns to Hawaii for Amazing Comic Con Aloha. Peter has been published by Marvel with characters such as the Black Widow, Inhumans and more. At DC Comics, Nguyen’s work includes Batman Arkham, Gotham City Sirens, Catwoman, and more. Peter Nguyen also has worked in Animation on Wolverine and the X-Men and for clients such as Hasbro, Boom, and others.

*Sam Campos

Amazing Comic Con Aloha is proud to have the endorsement of Sam Campos- the unofficial “Godfather” of the Hawaii Comic Scene. His creation of PINEAPPLE MAN in the 90s inspired a wave of creators. Accomplished filmmaker, storyboard artist, and more, Sam has started the Hawaiian Comic Book Alliance to share his knowledge and resources. Look for Sam Campos at the Kaaawasaki Productions Booth throughout the weekend.

*Stacey Hayashi with Damon Wong

Stacey is one of the most passionate multi media producers in Hawaii. She has taken her passion for the WWII Vets from the 442nd Battalion, and crafted the Journey of Heroes. This historically accurate tale appeared as a manga chibi story, youtube animated tales, and an award winning independent feature. Stacey is bringing Damon Wong- the artist and storyboard artists for Journey to Amazing Comic Con Aloha. His credits include the popular BOB’s BURGERS Television show.

*Andy Lee

Former Marvel and DC Comics illustrator Andy Lee creates beautiful modern zen ink brush paintings with contemporary themes– everything ranging from superheroes to toasters to ray guns. Originally from Hawaii, Andy worked for many years before returning home to Hawaii in 2009; he currently teaches cartooning locally, as well as conducting courses at the Honolulu Museum of Art. We’re excited to host Andy Lee at Amazing Comic Con Aloha once again in 2019

*Chris Caravalho

Creator of the Aumakua: Guardians of Hawai’i, lends a unique voice to independent comic scene. While the make-up of his team concept graphic adventures is similar to mainstream titles like Avengers or Justice League, the voice and scenery is local. There’s even a glossary in the back, with references to speech and history of Hawaii. Amazing Comic Con has been a mainstay stop for Chris, and we highly recommend checking out his family of titles, MANA COMICS.

While there are literally dozens of great creators gathered at Amazing Comic Con Aloha, and the above names are some great examples of the diverse talent from the people of Hawaii. We strongly suggest taking the time in Artist Alley and discovery these voices and finding other new favorites. Familiarize yourself with their work, and participate in the community.
